A Massachusetts woman was arrested and accused of animal cruelty after authorities allegedly found her living with 21 dogs and a bird all in a van.

Suzanne Esa, a 58-year-old man from Peabody, was stopped around 9:30 pm and on Monday for a ” motor vehicle violation,” the officials said. During the traffic stop, police reportedly saw the animal in the vehicle.

Even from the outside of the bus, Wethersfield Police wrote on Facebook that “several small dogs [were] visible in the front-passenger compartment.”

In the vehicle was covered in rubbish and animal waste,” the officials said. Esa reportedly told the researchers that they and the animals had lived in the Ford Transit van for a number of months.


A total of 21 animals, and a Macaw bird were removed from the car and transported to a local animal shelter. A number of the dogs appeared to have serious health problems, according to police.
