A whale jaw was stolen from the International Fund for Animal Welfare in Massachusetts and the police on Monday asked the public for help to restore.

The whale jaw bone, stolen from the group’s headquarters in Yarmouth, measures between 6 and 7 metres long and is valued at about $5,000, police said.

The bone was stolen from an outside storage room.

The police released a photo of a whale jawbone on Monday, but it was not a picture of the actual jawbone that was stolen, only one seems.

Anyone with information about the stolen item is asked to call Division Detective Eric Nuss at 508-775-0445, extension 2132.
