Maryland woman accused of attacking an autistic son with saw

ASPEN HILL, Md. – Authorities have charged Maryland woman with attempted murder after she allegedly attacked her autistic son with a bow saw.

WJLA-TV reports that the 46-year-old Kristina Petrie of the Montgomery County center of Aspen Hill, faces attempted first-degree murder and child abuse charges.

A statement obtained by WJLA claims the woman attacked her 11-year-old son in the house of the family, earlier this month, because he requires so much care and she felt overwhelmed. Would they raked the bow saw in the back of his neck multiple times.

Lawyer Sharon Diamond tells the station that Petrie had absolutely no intent” to harm anyone.

A preliminary hearing in Montgomery County District Court is set for April 20.

If the allegations are proven, Petrie faced a maximum sentence of life in prison.
