Marwan Kenzari confirmed for the role of Jafar in Aladdin
The Dutch actor Marwan Kenzari will play the role of villain Jafar will play in the live-action version of the disney film Aladdin. His agent has this Friday been confirmed.
The name of Kenzari was earlier this week named as one of the major contenders for the role. The Dutch actor was earlier this summer in the Tom Cruise film The Mummy and plays later this year in the remake of the Agatha Christie novel Murder On The Orient Express. In this film, also stars as Johnny Depp, Kenneth Branagh and Judi Dench.
Disney is currently live-action versions of a number of large animatiehits. The Jungle Book and Beauty And The Beast had already been great successes. Aladdin tells the story about a poor boy who, for the love of a princess to win to find a wonderlamp that all his wishes can fulfill.
The animated film was made in 1992 to be a huge hit, among others, by the voice of Robin Williams as the Ghost. This role is in the new version, played by Will Smith. The recording of the new Aladdin will be starting shortly.
