In a letter signed by many of the top Hollywood artists and creators urging the entertainment industry to be more inclusive of performers with disabilities has been in the music business, and there has been no sign of them.
“The entertainment industry has made significant progress in the prioritisation of diversity,” the letter, obtained by the application Deadline of Friday, it said. “By 2019, the Academy Awards ceremony, diversity-related topics, such as race, immigration, and sexual orientation is explicitly mentioned on the podium 38 times.”
The letter has been signed by the likes of Norman Lear, Glenn Close, Danny DeVito, Jason Alexander, Mark Ruffalo, and many others, and will help you with all of the Ruderman Family Foundation, an organization that has been at the forefront of disability and inclusion that have played a major role in sounding the alarm about the shows and movies that are cast with able-bodied performers in disabled roles.

“We applaud the industry for the raising of these issues to the world’s biggest and most glamorous stage. However, in the history of the Academy Awards, under the ‘ 61-Oscar-nominees, and 27 winners will play with a cast of characters with a disability, and only two were authentic, it was played by an actor with a disability,” the letter continued.
“That’s why we have to ask the question: Why is it that the disabled are excluded from the diversity discussion? Twenty per cent of the world’s population has some kind of visible or invisible disability, in the creation of this community is the largest minority in the world. People with disabilities are systematically excluded from opportunities for social and economic mobility,” he said.

“Now, it’s time to change the conversation. Hollywood plays an important role in the promotion of the social and economic advancement for people with disabilities. The entertainment industry needs to embrace disability as an important aspect of diversity, and to assist in the normalization of the disabled persons, to clear the stigma of” the letter stated.
“While many of the popular characters with disabilities, and the opportunities for players with disabilities are almost non-existent. In fact, research shows that 95% of the tone of characters with disabilities on TV are played by actors without disabilities. However, it is still the norm for the able-bodied actors playing characters with disabilities,” it added.

In the manifesto, the Ruderman Foundation, and a call-to-action for the industry big wigs and others are pledging to audition actors who have a disability and are aimed to qualified artists with a disability, “thereby improving their visibility to, and the expansion of the global talent. Then, and only then, will the entertainment industry finally got its enormous potential for leadership in diversity, inclusion, social justice, and human rights,” at the complete post.
According to Variety, the organization began the certification of films and shows, with her unique stamp of approval on an authentic piece. The outlet reported that, as of Friday, only about 15 of the titles have been collected in the seal so far.
