Marconi Oeuvre Award for Willem van Kooten

Former radio dj Willem van Kooten, also known under the alias Joost den Draaijer, this year the Marconi Oeuvre Award. That he heard Monday afternoon in the broadcast of Time for MAX.

According to the jury controlled the 77-year-old Van Kooten, who began his career at the former offshore radio station Radio Veronica, the radiomaken “like no other: always full of energy, bravado, passion and with a perfect timing. He thus became the ultimate example for the later generations discjockeys. They practised all the dj-box from within the standard Van Kooten, perhaps, unconsciously in the Netherlands has dropped.”

Previous winners of the prize, which since 2004 has been awarded, among others, Adam Curry, Tineke de Nooij and Ruud de Wild.

The jury made Monday further to know who the nominees are in the categories of up-and-coming talent, best station and online at the Marconi Awards, which on January 31, will be presented during the RadioGala of the Year.

In the first category take Shay Kreuger (NPO Radio 2), Bram Krikke (SLAM!) and Bas Menting (Radio 538) against each other. In the second category are NPO Radio 2, Radio 10, and SLAM! nominated in the new category of online BNR SMART Radio, Day and Night Media and the three nominees.
