“Many party websites places volgcookies without permission’

Almost half of those sites of political parties without the consent volgcookies placed. That sets the website after investigating 44 sites of political parties.

It comes to rural and regional party websites and jongerenafdelingen. found on twenty of the surveyed sites volgcookies that were placed before visitors explicit permission had been given. Nine sites placed volgcookies without even notification.

There are roughly three types of cookies: functional cookies that a web site useful, analytical cookies, for example, keep track of how many visits a website receives and tracking – or volgcookies. They are used to collect information about a visitor, so later targeted ads can be displayed.

Websites may since the introduction of the so-called cookie law in 2013, no volgcookies more places without permission. Yet that still happens regularly. So hit the NOS at the beginning of this month on thirteen hundred websites tracking cookies that were already placed before an explicit permission was given.

Most of the tracking cookies were found on the websites of the jongerenafdelingen of different parties, including the CDA, the SP and the ChristenUnie. Forum for Democracy placed them from both the young people – as the official partijwebsite. The party placed without permission Facebook cookies to the visitors of the site.

At regional level, the tracking cookies found on the websites of, inter alia, Code Orange, Jesus is Alive, Strong Local and Provincial Interest the province of Fryslân.
