Manufacturer smart doorbells, gets investment of 100 million euros
Ring, the company known for its eponymous smart doorbells, has a round a whopping $ 109 million (then about 100 million euros) will be retrieved.
That has the company on Wednesday announced. The money comes from venture capital firm DFJ and the investeringstakken of investment bank Goldman Sachs and chipmaker Qualcomm.
Virgin boss Richard Branson has put personal money in the company. It is not known what valuation Ring has been in the investment round.
The doorbell’s Ring contains a camera which takes a video stream to the smartphone of the occupant forwards. Which can then also outdoors to see who is at the door.
The Ring also contains a motion sensor which residents can alert if there is someone in the vicinity of a house, even if there are no active calls. The instapdeurbel of Ring costs in the Netherlands, tight 200 euro.
Ring says customers in more than hundred countries. The products of the company are located worldwide in more than 15,000 stores. The company has over a thousand employees.
Director Jami Siminoff of Ring says to TechCrunch that it is still focused on an ipo for the company. Possible that still happens before the end of the year.
