Manager Claude Puel of Southampton wants Virgil van Dijk under no circumstances lost. The defender would be high on the wish list of Manchester City manager Josep Guardiola.
“Virgil is a very important player for us,” said Puel Friday at a press conference. “He has a good personality, character and quality. He is one of the captains of our team. Of course he is.”
The international of the Dutch national team is clearly in the interest of Manchester City, that, according to English media coming month, an attempt are going to do to him los to weeks at Southampton.
Guardiola would be approximately 60 million euro to pay for Van Dijk, who a year and a half ago for approximately 15 million euros, happened to of Celtic.
Puel has the clubleiding, however, dedicated to the former player of FC Groningen to his contract to keep. The 25-year-old Dutchman extended his commitment with the ‘Saints’ in may until the summer of 2022.
According to the French manager is therefore, there is no financial necessity to Van Dijk already to sell. “Price continues to the next two, three years will be the same. So he can be two or three years to stay with us.”
Van la parra
Southampton stands after seventeen races seventh in the Premier League. The team from the South of England takes over the Wednesday at home against Tottenham Hotspur and will have to do without Rajiv van la parra.
The Dutch midfielder has a liesblessure incurred and should, therefore, probably on new year’s eve also watch as Southampton against West Bromwich Albion plays.
“I hope that Jordy about a day or ten fit again,” said Puel. “It is a setback for us that he is, because he played last Sunday against Bournemouth.” May van la parra on 2 January against Everton, the club of his former coach Ronald Koeman, join at Southampton.
