The police are looking for a man who pulled a woman’s hijab, while she was at a New Hampshire restaurant.

The woman, who, according to the Union Leader as ri-man Douedari, said in a Facebook post that they are at the Farm Bar and Grille in Manchester on 22 June, with a number of her colleagues, when an unknown man pulled on her hijab, a traditional head covering worn by many Muslim women.

“I always thought I had a plan on how to act when I encounter such a situation, but when this happened I was shocked and suddenly froze and did not know what to do,” the 25-year-old Dauedari wrote on Facebook.

The man left the restaurant shortly after the incident at Douedari the co-workers confronted him at the bar.

“I can’t be more grateful for the fact that such great people in my life who actually care about me and my personal beliefs!” she wrote, also revealing she has lived in Manchester for three years and it is the first time that they had to deal with such a situation.

The police released a photo of the man on Monday, saying he is wanted for simple assault. She said that the man had not said something to Douedari for the incident and “pulled on the hijab is long enough to inconvenience to her chin and head.”

“It is regrettable what has happened, of course,” Mike Cappock, assistant manager of the Farm and Grille, said the union leader, adding that the restaurant shared the security footage with the police. “We get a lot of regulars that come in and out, and he is not one of them.”

Anyone who can identify the man should contact the police in Manchester 603-668-8711.
