Man intervenes on a number of arguments, it is thrown from a bridge

DERBY, Conn. – Connecticut police say a man threw another man up to 45 meters off a bridge, because he intervened in a quarrel between the suspect and his girlfriend.

Derby police charged Gregory Rottjer with attempted murder, in connection with the morning encounter in which the victim is seriously injured. He faces arraignment Tuesday.

Rottjer friend Matthew Dorso was accused of abuse during Rottjer’s girlfriend Jennifer Hannum, was charged with lying to the police.

The police says Rottjer and Hannum argue as they walked across the bridge over the River, the Housatonic between Derby and Shelton. The victim and his brother asked Hannum if she was OK, which prompted Rottjer and Dorso to start a fight that ended with the victim in the water.

It was unclear whether the suspects had lawyers.
