Man guilty in the fatal shooting of the store manager, outlet mall

MAYS LANDING, N. J. – A man accused of fatally shooting a store manager before you put the gun on himself in an Atlantic City outlet mall last year has been convicted of murder.

Luis Maisonet was also found guilty of aggravated assault and three weapons offences, arising out of the September 2016 shoot on a skatewear shop in The Walk. An Atlantic County jury returned its verdict on Friday.

The 56-year-old Somers Point man now faces up to 30 years in captivity if he is convicted next year.

The authorities say that Maisonet shot 26-year-old Christopher Romero a number of times, and fled on foot. Maisonet shot down and badly injured himself a short time later, but has since recovered from his wounds.

The authorities have described the shooting as well as for domestic use, but not yet published further details about the motive.
