BUFFALO, new york – A man has received the maximum sentence in the shooting death of an employee in the bar is credited for the origin of the Buffalo-style chicken wings.
The Erie County district attorney announced on Thursday that the 27-year-old Jorge Suarez is sentenced to 25 years to life in prison.
Suarez was previously convicted of second-degree murder and weapon possession in the May 2016 shooting death of the 33-year-old Freddie Dizon. He was found, killed in the kitchen at the Anchor Bar.
His mother says that the justice received is “the best christmas present” she could ask.
Suarez’s lawyer says that his client is innocent and intends to appeal the decision.
The suspected getaway driver in the shooting was earlier sentenced to four years in prison for a different crime.
