Pregnant woman, two daughters went missing in Colorado

Friends and family are very concerned after Shannan Watt, who is 15 weeks pregnant, and her two young daughters missing.

A Colorado man confessed Wednesday to killing his pregnant wife and their two young daughters, a day after authorities launched an investigation into the mysterious disappearance, reports said.

Chris Watts, 33, admitted to killing 34-year-old Shanann Watts, who was 15 weeks pregnant, and daughters Celeste, 3, and Bella, 4, FOX31 Denver reported, quoting a family source.

Two law enforcement officials reportedly told the Denver Channel, Watts confessed to the murders, and that authorities believe they know the location of the bodies.

Watts was arrested and in anticipation of the charges, the authorities in the city of Frederick tweeted early Thursday.

#ShanannWattsInvestigation Update 2 of 3: Chris Watt, the man of Shanann, is placed in custody and is awaiting charges at this time. He will be held in the Weld County Jail.

A pick-up truck was towed from outside the Watts’ home Wednesday night, FOX31 reported. A makeshift memorial was also outside the house of the family ” at night, the station said.

The mother and daughters for the first time were missing in Frederick, about 30 miles north of Denver, on Monday. The local police asked for the public’s assistance the following day. The Colorado Bureau of Investigation and the FBI later joined the investigation.

Nickole Utoft, a good friend of Shanann Watts, told FOX 31 she had last seen Watts at her home about 2 am Monday when she came home from a work trip. The two planned to get together later in the day.

When Shanann Watts had no answer on her phone, Utoft said she called the police.

Shanann Watts’ wallet, keys and phone were found in the home during a welfare check.

Chris Watt had told reporters earlier Wednesday that he was traumatized by the disappearance, and was the hope for his family’s safe return.

“It’s not something I could ever, ever fathom would happen in my life, and I have no inclination of where she is,” he said at the time. “She said she was on her way to a friend’s house with the kids and that is the last thing I heard, and that was it. It was very vague.”

The city officials said they would provide an update Thursday at 10:30 a.m. local time.
