Makkelie flute with FC Porto-Liverpool sixth-CL match of the season

Danny Makkelie is Monday appointed as the referee for the match between FC Porto and Liverpool on Wednesday. The Dutchman flute in Portugal, his sixth Champions League match of the season.

In the Estádio do Dragão will Makkelie help of, among others, Pol van Boekel (the netherlands), VAR is the return in the quarter-finals. Liverpool won the heenduel in own home with 2-0.

Makkelie, this season is already a match of FC Porto. That was on 12 February, when the Portuguese, in the eighth finals of the Champions League with a 2-1 loss at AS Roma. Three weeks later, they put that loss in their own home right through with a 3-1 win.

In the eighth finals whistled Makkelie on march 5, also Borussia Dortmund-Tottenham Hotspur. In the group stage was the 36-year-old Dutchman arbitrator for Club Brugge-Dortmund, Olympique Lyon and Hoffenheim and CSKA Moscow-Viktoria Pilzen.

Not earlier, it was Makkelie to six Champions League matches in one season. Last year led to the referee five matches in the main European clubtoernooi.

FC Porto-Liverpool starts Wednesday at 21.00, just like Manchester City-Tottenham Hotspur. Tuesday is, at the same time the kick-off at Juventus-Ajax and FC Barcelona-Manchester United.
