A Nashville-based animal rescue group expects 18-year-old “Poochie” would live the rest of his life without a permanent family.

But Proverbs 12:10 Animal Rescue was pleasantly surprised when a special — famous — family-decided to step in last weekend to rescue the dog, they can be considered as “an eternal hospice foster.” The senior pup was surrendered by his previous family after they became allergic.

“God had other plans for [Poochie],” the rescue group wrote on Facebook, the announcement of country superstar Luke Bryan and his wife, Caroline, offered to adopt the dog.

The Bryans were destroyed after the reading of Proverbs’ messages about Poochie on social media and decided to give the dog a happy ending that it deserves — at their farm.

“Luke Bryan and his beautiful wife Caroline applied and adopted Poochie last Saturday!” Spells confirmed. “He is pictured here with his new mother, Caroline and his previous foster, Lacy Marie! He is loving life on the Bryan farm and enjoy all of their love. Who knows, maybe Poochie will inspire a country song!”

Dozens of people responded to the salvation of the group to the post, full of praise for the family to take the 18-year-old dog.

“Thank you Lucas for the adoption of this baby. He will know love, hopefully for a few years,” a Facebook user commented.

“God Bless You, Luke & Caroline. You will not regret or ever forget to give this old timer the love and warmth that he needs in his twilight years. We celebrate when our ‘Double Digit Club’ and this is in the club for a while! Thank you, thank you! Every day the best day!” another fan wrote.

“Bless Luke Bryan and his family ♥️❤️What a great guy!” a third added.

Lavonne Redferrin, Proverbs 12:10 Animal Rescue’s director and founder, told the People of the group is “pleased” with the Bryans adopted Poochie.

“[We] know that he is in good hands. Caroline Bryan has graciously given us updates on our dear boy. The adoption of this dear old man allows us the chance to save another,” Redferrin told the publication.
