Lucky Fonz III writes text for classical music-voorsteling
Singer-songwriter Lucky Fonz III has focused on the writing of a text for a classic opera. “It is spectacular music, described as Björk meets Ligeti – heavy classical music – but with modern vocals and themes.”
That says the singer Wednesday night against 3 for 12 Radio.
His first modern-classical song cycle is called The Secret Diary of Nora Plain, and Saturday afternoon for the first time were performed on festival Intro The Great Wide Open, which this weekend takes place.
Lucky Fonz III, who in real life Otto Wichers is called, wrote the text. The music was gecomponeert by French horn player/composer Morris Kliphuis. The cycle is sung by Nora Fischer and the music is played by the Ragazze string quartet and a jazz drummer Remco Menting.
The track is about self-determination in times of intense surveillance. Lucky Fonz III: “Nora Plain is a woman who in her diary, writes that she the whole time being watched by cameras, by Facebook, by family and relationships, and how they respond.”
The theme the singer is personally involved: “I am very fascinated by the question: ‘What does it do with the man, knowing that you are always being watched?'”
The tour is scheduled for november.
