House GOP presenter Liz Cheney, R-Wyoming., along with 20 Republican colleagues, said on Thursday that legislation is introduced, the sanctions against Turkey because of their military offensive against the US-backed Kurdish troops in Northern Syria.
The announcement came as Turkey’s defence Ministry boasted on Thursday that more than 150 Kurdish forces were mowed down, as the attack began the day before.

“President [Recep Tayyip] Erdogan and his regime have serious consequences for mercilessly attack our Kurdish allies in the North of Syria, which caused thousands of deaths in the fight against ISIS, and helped us in the protection of the home,” said Cheney. “These sanctions are not only a response to the Erdogan regime to violent attacks in Northern Syria. The Congress had long been concerns about the scheme of cooperation with U.S. adversaries, such as Russia.
“If Turkey wants to be treated like an ally, it needs to begin like a. You need to be punished for their attacks on our Kurdish allies.”
Much to the frustration of the leaders of the United States, Turkey acquired a Russian S-400 air defense system in July. The deal with Russia-the first such agreement between Russia and a NATO member — concerns that Turkey is drifting always closer to the sphere of influence of Moscow.
Cheney’s office showed that the legislation in line with what President Trump has said that Turkey in the past. “Turkey plans for attack on the Kurds for a long time,” trump tweeted Thursday. “I’m not saying hit Turkey very hard, financially & with sanctions if they play by the rules!”

“President Erdogan is the attack on our Kurdish allies, reckless, and reprehensible. The Kurds sacrificed 10,000 of their own men and women, the fight against ISIS, and we can’t let that Turkey, a NATO ally, to attack them, without impact,” said co-sponsor Adam Kinzinger, R-Fig.
Cheney bill follows a similar one in the Senate Wednesday by Sens. Lindsey Graham, R-S. C., and Chris Van Hollen, D-Md announced. The Senate bill would sanction the US assets of the Turkish political leadership to limit the military transactions with foreign companies (including the USA) and Turkey, and to punish anyone who shops with Turkey in the energy sector.
Cheney, daughter of former Vice-President, George W. Bush, Vice President Dick Cheney, has again sound the Trump, the decision to withdraw U.S. armed forces in the North-East of Syria. In a tweet, they called it a “catastrophic error of our gains against ISIS is a danger and threatens US national security.”
Critics complain the decision of trump, which they say will undermine progress against ISIS in the region and a U.S. ally in the fight against the Islamic state endangered.
