Life-saving ‘hartvest’ will now be reimbursed
The life-saving hartvest’ is now yet reimbursed. VGZ acknowledge now that this tool unnecessary heart surgeries can prevent a lot of costs and, therefore, ‘meaningful care’.
The vest, which is also the “LifeVest” is mentioned, take in to cardiac arrhythmias and acute problems with the heart muscle, reports The Telegraaf on Tuesday.
In the Netherlands per year, one hundred up to two hundred patients to be eligible for this hartvest. The protective vest is at the most three months worn by patients with heart problems. It has been in use in Germany and the United States.
Without the vest are patients, sometimes for months, on the coronary intensive care. “Extremely costly”, says cardiologist-electrophysiologist dr. Reinoud Knops across The Telegraph. “But if you’re in the Netherlands a new therapy that can be reimbursed want to get, then it turns out the forest of bureaucracy is almost impenetrable. That frustrates greatly.”
