Liesbeth List receives the prestigious Amsterdam prize

Singer Liesbeth List has Saturday night the Frans Banninck Cocq-medal of the city of Amsterdam received.
The 75-year-old List received the award from the hands of vice-mayor Eric van der Burg during a performance in the concert hall.
Liesbeth List was born on december 12, 1941 in Bandoeng, Indonesia. She grew up with foster parents on the island of Vlieland. They came to Amsterdam to study at the modevakschool and singing to follow.
Later she concentrated on French chansons. In the nightlife around the Leidseplein, she got to Ramses Shaffy know. He invited her with him to sing in Shaffy Chantant.
For decades, trading together at home and abroad, but mainly in Amsterdam. She played in television and toneelrollen, received gold and platinum records and Edisons.
The Frans Banninck Cocq-medal is awarded to persons who, during a period of at least twelve years particularly, have contributed to Amsterdam.
