Lidl responds to controversy about Greek products
Lidl Netherlands finds it “extremely annoying” on the packaging of Greek products christian cross of a church building digital are glossed. “We understand how important religious symbols for societies”, the company reacts after the fuss in Belgium about the issue.
It is a photo products from the Eridanous-range, such as the moussaka and halloumi cheese, which are sold during the Greek people’s action week. On the photo: famous blue domes of a white church on the Greek island of Santorini is depicted. But the crosses on the domes are missing.
In a written statement says Lidl Nederland that these specific packages are designed by an international team. “It is part of our international policy to be religiously and politically neutral. We have in no way offensive intentions and we will ensure that future packaging thoughtfully and with great care to be produced.”
