LG’s Floating Portable Speaker (LG).
More often than not, our favorite devices unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show is more about flash than they are about function. That is certainly the case with LG’s Floating Portable Speaker that floats on a dock while blasting audio in every direction, and give your guests something to talk about.
The Floating Portable Speaker (aka PJ9) applications of electromagnets in the Levitation Station (which sits under the speaker itself) to keep the speaker afloat. While a 360-degree omni-directional speaker is in the floating-point unit, the Levitation Station has a subwoofer embedded in to improve the sound quality.
Perhaps the most valuable feature of the PJ9 is the 10-hour battery life, but even more impressive is the fact that the speaker automatically to descend in the Levitation Station to recharge when the battery is almost empty. In addition, the entire unit is IPX7 compliant, which means that it must continue during a rainstorm.
Finally, LG says that PJ9 is equipped with Multipoint technology, giving it the ability to connect to two Bluetooth devices at the same time. That is quite a part for a seemingly useless floating speaker.
