The South Korean electronics manufacturer LG will find it is ‘too early’ to make a foldable smartphone on the market. That has Kwon Bong-seok, head of LG’s smartphoneafdeling, said at a press conference, reports The Korea Times.
“We have considered to be a foldable smartphone, but have decided to use the (device, ed.) not to produce,” said Kwon.
Other smartphonefabrikanten have previously announced about a foldable smartphone on the market. Among others, Samsung and Huawei, the two largest manufacturers of Android smartphones, come in 2019 with a foldable device.
The reason for samsung’s choice is that the company wants to focus on gaining a larger market share in the smartphone market, says Kwon. “Given the situation (about the current market share, red.) is it too early for LG to make a foldable smartphone.”
LG says for the time being, wanting to focus on smartphones with support for 5G networks. The next few years, this high speed mobile networks available worldwide.
