Airlines have in the past summer had very few problems because of the weather. Disruptive summer storms as in 2014 and 2015 remained. However, the number of severely delayed and cancelled flights to and from Dutch airports but light.

This is evident from figures published Wednesday by EUClaim, an organization which aggrieved travellers helps in claim of damages.

The company had between 21 June and 20 september 778 cancelled flights and 730 flights with a delay of three hours or more. The total number of incidents came in 1508, which is 3 percent less than in the comparable period of last year.

Travelers have cancellations or long delays are entitled to compensation. That does not apply in cases of force majeure, for example if extreme weather is the cause. Airlines were there last summer, less often in professions. Thus there were, according to EUClaim, despite the decline in the number of incidents, 28 percent more passengers that a fee could claim.

In particular, Vueling, TUI had more delays than in 2015. When easyJet took the number of delays, but were forced by strikes by its pilots, dozens of flights are cancelled. KLM and Transavia have experienced in spite of a growth of the total number of flights a relatively quiet summer, with the half less delays than a year earlier.
