Leak in Fritzbox-routers can provide insight into local network
The Fritzbox routers contain a vulnerability that allows hackers to gain insight into the structure of local networks. That information can be used for any subsequent attacks.
That reports the German news site Heise Thursday. Through the leak is information about devices connected to the router. This includes IP addresses, and whether the device is currently connected.
A hacker can collect information by a function of the router to use no authentication is required. Then he can have a website create which the information brings.
Manufacturer AVM has promised the issue with an upcoming update to the firmware to fix it. Which models of the Fritzbox are vulnerable, is not known.
In the Netherlands, such routers by XS4all shipped to the customer.
