Large natural fires in Athens under control
Firefighters have Wednesday, a large natural fire to the north of the Greek capital city of Athens, under control. By the fire in the last days some thousands of hectares of forest and dozens of homes destroyed.
The fire broke on Sunday out in the coastal town of Kalamos, about 45 km northeast of Athens. Fanned by the strong wind struck the fire to three other places.
Elsewhere in Greece is raging still about thirty forest fires, inter alia, on the peninsula of Peloponnese and on the toeristeneilanden Zakynthos and Kefalonia.
