A Los Angeles police officer died on Sunday during an operation which is a result of an on-duty traffic collision — that’s what happened four years prior, officials said.
The officer, Esmeralda Ramirez, 49, passed away after complications from surgery with regard to 2015 in the crash, according to the Los Angeles Police department.

Ramirez has been a member of the department since 2008 and was a valued member of the Pacific Division, where she has worked in a variety of tasks.”

The police did not immediately release details about the crash that led to her death.
Chief Michel Moore tweeted that the GAME was “mourning the loss of one of our own,” and said that they were served in Los Angeles, “with honor, integrity, and a sense of pride.”
“We are, and not as an organization but as a family, and never forget her sacrifice,” he wrote.

Ramirez, who leaves behind three grown-up children, the 2,010 th, LAPD officer to die in the line of duty, according to officials.
Police said Ramirez’s death serves as “a reminder of the potentially life-changing and tragic event that an officer faces every day on the job.”
