Harris and Cruz died at the scene, while the third driver was reportedly not injured.

The taos County Sheriff’s Office investigated a vehicle-data recorder from the crash and restart of the scene.

“The information provided by the data subjects, to support our on-scene investigation that the two collisions occurred, involving three vehicles, and the speed was definitely a factor,” Taos County Sheriff Jerry Hogrefe told the Taos News in a statement.

After a reconstruction of the crash, the Sheriff’s Office alleges that Harris, who is riding in a Chevrolet Equinox in the southern lane, was 102 km / h when the rear of a black Chevy Avalanche.
