Frances Bean Cobain opened up about her battle with addiction and two years sober.
Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love’s daughter, Frances Bean, will be unveiled on Tuesday its fight against the addiction and celebrated being sober for two years.
Frances placed a Boomerang selfie on Instagram to mark her “2nd sober birthday.”
“I thought that I would start this post with the help of a pure moment in Oahu in the middle of the nature, with my love,” Frances wrote in the post on Tuesday. “At this time, is a representation of who I am on February 13, 2018. It feels significant here, now, because it’s my 2nd sober birthday.”
Frances said she loved her sobriety private for the last two years, but decided that it was time to get past the fear of being judged and misunderstood by the public.
“I want to have the capacity to recognize and to observe that my journey can be informative, even helpful to other people who are going through something similar or different,” Frances wrote. “It is a daily struggle to be in attendance for all of the painful, bazaar, uncomfortable, tragic, f-ed up things that have happened or will ever happen.”
Frances said sobriety was not easy to achieve and maintain. She said that her decision to stay sober is the best thing for her and the people they are around.
“Self-destruction and toxic consumption and the remission of pain is a lot easier to meet,” she said. “No doubt, for myself and the people around me is always present, is the best decision I have ever made. How we treat our bodies directly correlates with how we deal with our souls. It is all connected. It has to be.”
