Frances said she loved her sobriety private for the last two years, but decided that it was time to get past the fear of being judged and misunderstood by the public.

“I want to have the capacity to recognize and to observe that my journey can be informative, even helpful to other people who are going through something similar or different,” Frances wrote. “It is a daily struggle to be in attendance for all of the painful, bazaar, uncomfortable, tragic, f-ed up things that have happened or will ever happen.”

Frances said sobriety was not easy to achieve and maintain. She said that her decision to stay sober is the best thing for her and the people they are around.

“Self-destruction and toxic consumption and the remission of pain is a lot easier to meet,” she said. “No doubt, for myself and the people around me is always present, is the best decision I have ever made. How we treat our bodies directly correlates with how we deal with our souls. It is all connected. It has to be.”

She added, “So I go today to celebrate my health and the abundance of happiness, gratitude, awareness, compassion, empathy, strength, fear, loss, wisdom, peace, and countless other messy emotions I feel constantly.”

Both of Frances’ musician parents also struggled with drug and alcohol abuse.

Love was ordered to enter a rehabilitation program in 2005, after she admitted that she used drugs during her probation, People reported.

Cobain, who committed suicide in April 1994, had a history of drugs, alcohol and depression when he was alive, which was detailed in a Rolling Stone article by Neil Strauss.
