Kuijt has to struggle with that he was at Feyenoord
Dirk Kuijt showed Saturday after the match won by Feyenoord against FC Groningen, while pleased with the result (2-0 win), but said ‘surprised and disappointed’ that he by trainer Giovanni van Bronckhorst on the bench was taken.
“It is hard not to from the beginning to play,” says Kuijt, after the end for the cameras of FOX Sports. “I was in the assumption that I am always in the base stand, outside of that the trainer me wants to give or for tactical reasons in a heavy week.”
Kuijt thought to say that if captain a dash for it. “You have to have a certain experience, and are an extension of the team. But the trainer thinks otherwise. That is to swallow.”
Nota bene Kuijts substitute Jens Toornstra was Saturday night the man of the match in the Cockpit with two goals. The ex-player of Liverpool had no trouble and said especially happy for Toornstra.
“I have often said that Jens is doing well. I’m happy for Jens, and I am happy with the result. We had to fight for a higher purpose. Of course it’s going to Feyenoord and not to Dirk Kuijt.”
Juninho Bacuna got red, though there seemed to be little going on.
Eljero Elia scored.
Jens Toornstra made both hits.
FC Groningen was called off and dangerous.
