KPN test combinatienetwerk for high speed internet in outlying areas
Telecom provider KPN is testing a new method of connection, whereby the connections of fixed and mobile internet are combined. This should be a higher speed of internet connection in remote locations.
That has the provider on Monday announced.
In the test, two hundred KPN customers in the outskirts of Nijkerk, a special device for their internet modem, that with the mobile internet connects. This connection is in addition to the usual connection to the internet.
By the two connections to combine, according to KPN a higher internet speed is reached. This would mean that remote locations and still get a fast connection. In these areas, it would only wired internet is generally less high speeds.
KPN will start in april 2017 with the test, which a few months will take. Only then will be determined or the network technology on a large scale is made available.
The provider offers since 2015 is a special 4G-modem to outlying areas, that the tasks of wired internet can take over.
