Koeman impressed by the ‘leader’ Rooney at Everton
Trainer Ronald Koeman is impressed by the way that star player Wayne Rooney is emerging in the first weeks after his return for Everton.
The 31-year-old Rooney left Manchester United earlier this month after thirteen years at Everton, to connect. The attacker was so far two times spot-on in the preparation for the new season.
“He has a lot of experience and is important on the field, but also beyond. He let especially the young players see what it takes to be a high level, it is Koeman Sunday praised on the site of Everton.
“It means that he is next to the field, a leader should be and when I see how he works and he he with all players to deal with, then that is exactly how we want it.”
Rooney, scorer of all times is the English national team, made earlier this month, his first hit since his return in the won the practice duel with Gor Mahia (1-2). Saturday, he scored against KRC Genk (1-1).
“Until now, he in the training sessions and the friendly matches to see that he is one of the best at his position, but also in general,” said the 54-year-old Koeman.

Rooney came this summer over Manchester United.
Ronald Koeman also made, among others, Davy Klaassen to Everton.

Earlier in the summer transfer took Koeman for more reinforcements to Everton. Among others, Davy Klaassen (Ajax) and Cuco Martina (Southampton) signed at Goodison Park.
“I am very happy with the way the newcomers have to adapt,” says Koeman. “We have a very good team and it is easy for the new players to feel at home.”
Koeman is preparing with Everton for the diptych with the Slovakian Ruzomberok in the third qualifying round of the Europa League. The heenwedstrijd is Thursday at Goodison Park, and then a week later, the return follows.
