“King of the Belgians” by Peter Brosens and Jessica Woodworth’s Friday night during the closing ceremony of the International film Festival of Rotterdam awarded with the KNF Award. That distinction is awarded annually by the Circle of Dutch Filmjournalisten that their favorite film or co-production of the festival honor. It is the first time in the history of the KNF Award that a Flemish film award.
“King of the Belgians” is a co-production with the Netherlands by Topkapi Films. In the film, the fourth feature film by Peter Brosens and Jessica Woodworth (born in US, but was married to Brosens and live in Belgium), takes the King of the Belgians, a role for Peter Van den Begin, with his loyal entourage, an odyssey through the Balkans to his disintegrating kingdom to save.
The Dutch award is the first international award for the film, since its premiere continue travelling the globe with screenings in Hamburg, Busan, Antalya, São Paulo, Valladolid, Tallinn, Marrakech, Dubai, Les Arcs, Palm Springs and recently Gothenburg.
Be for Movies, that the movie international represents, sold the film, meanwhile, also to the Netherlands, where Contact of the Film “King of the Belgians” on 25 may in the Dutch cinemas releases.
From the beginning of march is the film in Belgium is also available on dvd.
The Hivos Tiger Award 2017, the main prize at the film festival in which a cash prize of 40,000 euros, went Friday to the “Sexy Durga” from the Indian director Sanal Kumar Sasidharan.
