MIAMI – A national holiday that was supposed to be about non-violence erupted in chaos in Miami when the police say eight people were injured in a shooting on Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Park.

The police says that they do not know what started the shooting on Monday afternoon. Hundreds of people were gathered in the park after the annual MLK Day parade in the Liberty City neighborhood. People scattered in all directions when they hear the gunfire.

The injured ranged in age from 11 to 30. Miami-Dade Detective Daniel Ferrin said two suspects were questioned.

The Miami Herald (http://hrld.us/2ji9upu) reports that the parade is a tradition since the 1970s. People come on the street to barbecue, listen to music, show and to celebrate the slain civil rights leader.
