King-baptism of prince Carlos in the cathedral of Parma
King Willem-Alexander has a Sunday morning in the cathedral of Parma, the baptism, attended by the prince Carlos jr, the son of his cousin prince Carlos de Bourbon-Parma and his wife princess Annemarie. The king is one of the five sponsors of the april-born little prince.
The arrival of the king and other members of the royal family was strictly kept a secret. The baptism itself, by bishop Enrico has made of Parma, was Saturday officially been announced.
Prince Carlos jr is the third child of Carlos and Annemarie, but according to the dynastic rules of the House of Bourbon-Parma, he is the heir to the throne and future duke of Parma and Piacenza. Both titles now carries his father prince Carlos. That is also the reason that the baptism in Italy took place.
Other godparents of prince Carlos Enrique Leonard are Dom Duarte Pio, the Portuguese pretender, and princess Maria de las Nieves of Bourbon-Parma, Lodewijk Gualthérie van Weezel and Javier Lubalza Roca.
