Kentucky Secretary of state Alison Lundergan Grimes according to reports, joked on Friday about the attack on the sen Rand Paul, R-Ky., by its neighbors, saying it shows he can be beaten’.

Associated Press reporter Adam Beam tweeted that the Democrat Grimes made the remark at a local Fancy Farm picnic in Kentucky on Friday, Kentucky political candidates often used as a starting gun for the election campaign. Grimes is considering running for Governor in the year 2019.

“Alison Lundergan Grimes on Rand Paul: “Just ask his neighbors. He can be beaten.'” Ray tweeted.

Grimes’ comment sparked a response from Paul, chief strategist, Doug Stafford, is executed a reference to Grimes’ failed 2014 Senate, where they tried to overthrow, Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky.”That’s almost as sad and pathetic, like the last campaign,” he said. “Mitch, you beat so bad he was charged with hate crimes.”

While McConnell’s participation in the event was in the planning, Paul was at the event, and is gearing up for a trip to Russia on Monday. A spokesman told The Washington Post that the trip is aimed at “support for President Donald Trump engagement around the world.”

But Grimes reportedly joked that Paul, instead of “looking for a campaign manager.”

Paul’s neighbor was convicted, in June, an attack by the senator in front of his house and was sentenced to 30 days in jail. The attack left Paul with six broken ribs and his recovery was complicated by fluid and blood in the lungs and recurrent pneumonias.

The senator told the police that the incident occurred, as “the neighbor came on his property and fight him from behind and forcing him to the ground and cause the pain.”

The neighbor, Rene Boucher, said he met Paul over a pile of brush on Paul’s property. Boucher claimed that Paul with his lawn mower, blowing leaves on his property.

The spat comes amid a growing controversy between Democrats and Republicans over hate speech. Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif., came under fire for accepting, Trump officials are chased out of public spaces. Sen. Cory Booker, D-NJ, said this week that he wept “tears of anger” about the rhetoric of the trump management.
