Keane will be seven years after their most recent album, Strangeland new release material. The British band is currently in the studio, where they are on their yet-untitled new cd.
Keane broke in 2004 with the album Hopes and Fears, that in the Netherlands 95 weeks in the Album Top 100, and scored a big hit with Somewhere Only We Know. In 2013, a year after the release of Strangeland, took the band a break.
Lead singer Tom Chaplin heard in this period, new material from songwriter and pianist Tim Rice-Oxley and got inspired by this. “For me, it was one of the most personal and vulnerable collections of songs I’ve ever heard,” says Chaplin.
“I was there, as it were, attracted to it. It felt like a story that I could help tell.” Drummer Richard Hughes and bassist Jesse Quin were asked back and the band came back together in the studio. Supposedly, their new album later this year.
Chaplin made in the meantime, however, two recorded. Keane is now touring through Europe. The band will also give two concerts in the Netherlands.
