Katharine McPhee offered fans a look at her engagement ring on social media Saturday, in less than a week after the breaking of the tragic news that her father, Daniel McPhee had died.

The actress shared the snap of her left hand with its more than 485,000 Instagram followers.

“It is a hard week,” the star confided in the caption. “A lot of tears, but I want to thank my friends and family for all the love and support. My father was so happy for me.”

It is a hard week. A lot of tears, but I want to thank my friends and family for all the love and support. My father was so happy for me. My ring was the last thing I showed my father before he passed and it makes me laugh when I look at this as a reminder of our last conversation. And now I’m ready to share with you, what is my sunshine in this painful loss. My love wisely said to me the other day that ” death is the only thing that is 100% inevitable, and the thing we are least prepared for it.” So today we celebrate the life and not to forget the love. ❤️

She has previously posted a few snapshots when she talked about her late father on Instagram last week.

I can’t believe I’m even writing this…. But it is with a heavy heart that I share that my sweet sweet Dad left this earth yesterday morning. We as a family are absolutely heartbroken and devastated. He was my biggest fan, my greatest champion, always say to me: “Give em hell kid!” He was so kind and caring and made sure that we knew how much he loved us. Not sure my heart will never be the same. I am so sad that he missed my broadway debut. But when I return to the stage next week, I hope he can look in peace and from above. Thank you to all my friends, who are all so loving and supportive these last 48 hours. I love you Daddy. I already miss you so much. This hurts. ?
