Katharine McPhee shares bittersweet moment with fans
Hollywood Nation: The star takes to Instagram to post a photo of her engagement ring from fiancé, David Foster, along with a heartfelt message about the death of her father.
David Foster can be twice Katharine McPhee’s age, but the couple haven’t let the 34-year-old age gap or disapproving comments – between them.
Some of Foster’s children have even expressed support for the happy couple, who announced their engagement in July. It will be the second and the fifth marriage for the bride and groom, respectively.
“I know that some people hate that relationship,” the producer’s daughter, Amy, 44, told US Weekly weeks after the assignment. “All I can say is that it really works if you take them together.”

McPhee, 34, was also easy to defend, its relationship with the 68-year-old producer, telling fans in a tweet, they should “worry more about registering to vote, and the mid-term elections than to marry me.”

The two have known each other for more than a decade. McPhee, 22, first met Foster on the set of “American Idol” in 2006, when he was a guest mentor for the contestants on the show.
Since then, the two collaborated on several live performances, including his 2008 PBS tribute concert “Hit Man: David Foster & Friends.” Foster even run on McPhee’s first marriage to Nick Cokas in 2008. He played on the piano as the singer sang Natalie Cole and Nat King Cole’s hit “Unforgettable.”

While it is not known exactly on what day he proposed, TMZ claimed McPhee was showing off her engagement ring, while on the Italian island of Capri on July 1. She was reportedly also show off her rock to family and friends via FaceTime.
McPhee later took to Instagram to dish about the magical involvement.

“He did it on the top of the mountain in Anacapri,” McPhee explained, sharing a screenshot of a text message conversation she posted. “Completely dark, with only stars.”
“Luckily, he had no pressure on me from the abyss,” McPhee joked. “He said that one or the other. And in the end that he spared me.”
On July 17, McPhee turned out to be the death of her father, Daniel McPhee. The singer-actress said that she would take a short break from her role in the Broadway show or the “Waitress” to mourn the loss of her “dear Daddy.” They posted a close-up of her engagement ring days later.

Finally, after months of speculation, McPhee and Foster have confirmed that they have the line through it steps out on the red carpet together at the met Gala in New York City.

McPhee described the soiree as a “fun date night” Entertainment Tonight.
Foster shared his support for McPhee, as she began her journey to Broadway in April. McPhee snagged the role of Jenna in “Waitress.”

“I think she is going to kill it. I think they are the new belle of Broadway,” he told the People, though he still has no confirmation of their relationship.
The couple once again sparked relationship rumors when they were having dinner together in Malibu.
McPhee and Foster were spotted during a walk in Beverly Hills. After taking a break for lunch in an Italian restaurant, the pair were caught on camera sharing a sweet kiss, People reported at the time.
Weeks later, the day after Christmas, the couple was again caught locking lips — this time in Paris.
“They couldn’t keep their hands off of each other … and immediately took a romantic stroll through the rainy streets of Paris,” a source told E! News, adding that a visit to the eiffel tower and posed for pictures in front of the famous landmark.
McPhee squashed rumors she was in a sort of relationship with Foster, they were just “very good friends” in an interview for Health magazine’s December issue.
“I’m really, really, really loved him, and I think he is an incredible person. I’ve known him since I was 21 years old, you know? He made my first single. So he is really good for me. People can say what they want,” she told the publication.
McPhee had nothing but praise for Foster while gushing about his special role in her life to Entertainment Tonight, although they did not elaborate on the status of their relationship at the time.
“… I just pinch myself when I spend time with him on a personal level,” McPhee said. “I love his outlook on life and how he deals with people. He really is a special person in my life.
“What I’ve learned from him is how happy we are that we do what we do. He is always reminding me and it is reassuring to know that the people walking through the life that he had – working with great people, being friends with an ex-presidents and world leaders – and even from that perspective. He is so well connected, but still just a simple guy from Canada with his little Canadian accent!”
