A Wichita, Kan., the man, who, in August, 2018, with being shot and wounded his girlfriend and stole her car to flee to the state of New Mexico, was sentenced to 55 years in prison, according to the report.
He, a man of 29, was convicted and sentenced to 666 months in prison for multiple convictions, the state Attorney Marc Bennett said in a news release, the Wichita Eagle reported.

Mendoza was convicted by a Sedgwick County District Court jury of attempted first-degree murder, aggravated robbery, criminal possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, aggravated domestic battery and criminal threat as well.
His unknown friend was trying to push the gun away and escape, when Mendoza fired one shot, striking her in the left arm and the chest, the newspaper reported. She fell out of the driver’s side door, he fired again, striking her in the right arm.

After the second shot, she escaped by running into a car, screaming for help, prosecutors said. Mendoza then drove off in his girlfriend’s vehicle.
He was arrested by the police 11 days later, in the vicinity of Portales, N. M., the Eagle reported.
Mendoza has a prior Kansas conviction of criminal threat, the rule of law and it should be CLEAR, and a television station KAKE-TV reported.
