Astro star pitcher Justin Verlander prepares for a new season after a year of mostly wins. But apart from baseball, the athlete is also the adaptation to the life of a married couple with a super-model wife, Kate Upton.

“We met back when I was involved in a video game to shoot, MLB 2K12,” Verlander told Fox News. The two kept in touch and remained friends, which eventually lead to something more. “To be honest, the relationship just blossomed over the years. We were friends for a long time, and then we eventually we decided to give this a shot.”

Verlander and Upton tied the knot in Italy on November 4, 2017, just two days after the Astros pitcher won the World Series his team. And despite all of their wedding guests in Italy for the marriage, Upton made her way to Los Angeles, to the support of her then fiancé’s life changes at that moment. But the 25-year-old model is not the only supportive cheerleader in the relationship.

“I have to have a number of her shows, but our schedules are so tough,” Verlander said, but also that he loves to cheer on his wife when he is free. “On my off-season, I try to get out and support her, and when I can.”

While Upton is considered one of the most beautiful women in the world, Verlander, says its appeal to Upton is not only physical. He said he can’t recall “the right time” he knew Upton was, he told us that the connection was clear.

“The attraction was the similarities that we share together, and that became clear the more we have for each other,” he said.

In addition to getting ready for his upcoming baseball season, the star has partnered with Flonase, to help educate those who suffer from allergies, the importance of focusing on the symptoms before they.

“I have suffered from seasonal allergies for as long as I can remember, so when the opportunity to work together with Flonase came, it seemed like a natural fit,” Verlander said. “The baseball field is full of allergy causing. That is why it is so important that I treat my allergies, when my symptoms hit, so I’m ready for the first race of the season and should always be 100 percent.”

The professional shooter also talked with us about recently starring in a docu-series where he talked about his pre-season routine, and his father’s influence on his career.

Verlander with his father Richard.

“My father is someone who has had a huge impact on my career, I was so excited about the opportunity to do this video with him,” he said. “Growing up, he pushed me to do as much as possible to prepare for the season, including the treatment of my allergies. As far as the World Series, my father and I used to practice in the back yard and we would pretend it was the World Series. I would be pitching to him, and we would say that it is Game 7 and the game was on the line. So it is always something that I strive to achieve.”

After a whirlwind 2017, when asked what was the baseball super-star was most looking forward to about this year, he joked that the “hard-top” of the previous year, but also said he was looking for a new start in his team and exploring the Houston area with his new wife.

Verlander practices are World Series pitch.

“It is difficult to top last year, but really just to work hard and achieve the success of our team had last year,” Verlander shared. “The great part is this year, I’m here from the beginning and you would never know that we won the Championship last year if you are in our dressing room.”
