Junkie XL to work prefer not to soundtrack vervolgfilms
Composer Tom Holkenborg better known as Junkie XL, prefer no music for vervolgfilms. He will receive annually at least twenty to thirty projects offered; he may be there three, four per year.
“I can simply not to. And if you don’t, you give the standard polite answer: it is not good in terms of time,” says the musician.
Of Vervolgfilms remains a little less conversation rather leave. “Blade Runner and Alien are two of my favorite titles of all time. But I would really look forward to me of that kind of classic car. If I even would be asked, what in these two cases has not happened.”
He retired last year as composer of the sequel of the action movie Deadpool. The reason was that director Tim Miller decided to steps. “Deadpool without Tim doesn’t feel good for me”, he explained then.
He was responsible for the last ten years, the soundtracks for more than twenty titles, most of which is in Hollywood. He lives and works in Los Angeles and took care of recently, the music for the western Brimstone by Martin Koolhoven.
“I find it really nice to have the occasional Dutch film and will continue to do,” he explains. “The way of filming and of thinking is very different here. There is more negotiating culture. It’s more about the content than the form – although Martin again is someone who is of form and content.”
In addition, it works with compatriots still easier together. “You share the language and the culture – you quite understand. If you, for example, with a Spanish director working who also speaks English, there is still a part of the nuance away. It is always a good place, but it’s different.”
