Judoka Verkerk grabs in addition to bronze at the world CHAMPIONSHIPS in Budapest
Marhinde Verkerk has Friday at the world CHAMPIONSHIPS in judo in Budapest next to the bronze seized in the class up to 78 kg.
The 31-year-old Rotterdam lost out in the battle for the third spot on ippon of the British Natalie Powell. Verkerk was in the 2009 world champion and won the 2013 silver.
Earlier on Friday, lost to Verkerk in the semi-finals on waza-ari from Mami Umeki. The 22-year-old Japanese won two years ago in Astana, gold in the previous world cup.
Verkerk began her tournament with a victory on ippon on Albina Amangeldiyeva of Kazakhstan. In the second round was the Dutch, who last year struggled with injuries, after extension to strong for the Polish Beata Pacut by a waza-ari to score and in the quarter final, she won in the renewal of Assunta Galeone of Italy.
Kim Polling, Sanne van Dijke (class up to 70 kilograms) and Guusje Steenhuis (class up to 78 kg) were Friday already in an early stage of the disabled in Hungary.
