Josh Gad opens about a friend who lost a son in Florida high school shooting: It is almost too much for me to bear’

Josh Gad sent his love and condolences to his family, a friend, after his son died in the last week of the school shooting.

Actor Josh Gad, offered his support and love to his friend Max Schachter Wednesday, whose son was killed in last week’s shooting at a school in Florida.

Gad, 36, tweeted Wednesday as Schachter see on CNN’s town hall with Florida legislators to mourn his son, Alex, 14, who was one of the 17 people killed last week in the shooting at a school in marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in parkland, Fla.

During the meeting, Schachter, the reading of a poem written by Alex.

“The view of our friend of the family Max Schachter, the reading of his son Alex’s poem tonight is almost too much for me to bear. Max, we are all with you. We love you. Your strength is incredible. Your son’s poetry is light in this darkness,” the “Frozen” actor tweeted.

The poem read: “life is like a roller coaster/ she has the necessary ups and downs/sometimes you can slowly or very quickly/ it may be hard to breathe sometimes/ but you have to push yourself and go/ your bar is your security/ it’s like you’re family and friends/ You hold and won’t let you go/ But sometimes you might need to throw your hands up/ Because your friends and family will always be with you, just like that bar to keep you safe at all times/ maybe it is too much for you at times/ the twists, the turns, the upside downs,/ But you get back up/ keep you chugging along/ in the end it comes to a stop/you will not know when or how, but you know that you the time to step out and start again/ Life is like a roller coaster.”

Alex Schachter was killed last week in a shooting at a school.

Schachter said Alex, “loved roller coasters,” and “I had no idea his poem would be in his future.” The grieving father said that his son read the poem at Alex’s funeral, the Daily News reported. He said Alex wrote the poem just two weeks before his death.

After the news of the shooting, Gad, tweeted the shooting involved a friend of the family.

“Just learned some horrifying and shocking news regarding a friend of the family, whose son was shot today at the school. Put out lots of good vibes and prayers for him and all the families navigate through this nightmare day,” Gad tweeted on Feb. 14, 2018.

The next day, the “beauty and the Beast” star tweeted that his friend’s son died.

“Last night I received a text while I slept, that our friend’s son died from his gunshot wound. My sorrow for this family and many others knows no bounds. I’m sorry that our leaders are worthless. I’m sorry that we are bound to repeat this again,” Gad wrote.
