He played for the “Fantastic creatures: The Crimes of Grindelwald” panel. She was there for the “Aquaman” panel. Both events were scheduled for the same room within an hour of each other.

Depp, 55, came in costume as his character Gellert Grindelwald, who he plays in the upcoming “Fantastic Beasts” film. The blonde, the actor then delivered with a creepy monologue before they disappear as the light flickered.
“The great gift of your applause is not for me but for yourself,” said Depp during his monologue. “Magic thrives only in rare souls. It is granted to those who for higher purposes. What a world we would create for the whole of humanity. We, who live for the freedom, for the truth — now is the time to stand up and our rightful place in the world.”
Depp was at Comic-Con for the “Fantastic creatures: The Crimes of Grindelwald” panel.
The panel included co-star, Eddie Redmayne and Jude Law.

No one saw Depp and his 32-year-old ex-wife cross paths Saturday, People reported.

Depp and Heard’s bad relationship became public knowledge when they filed for divorce in May 2016, after 15 months of marriage. Around the ugly split were allegations that Depp was physically and verbally abusive. He was also accused of once throwing a mobile phone at her when he was drunk.
Depp has repeatedly denied the allegations, calling them “salacious false stories, gossip, misinformation and lies.”
Depp and Heard, reached a $7 million divorce settlement in January 2017.
But Depp’s surprise appearance shocked fans in the middle of the actor’s recent personal problems, and shocking tell-all interview with Rolling Stone. He had also been photographed in June looking lean, causing some fans worried about his health.

A source previously told Fox News that the actor is fine in spite of the disturbing reports and concerns.
“His split of Orange took a huge toll on him,” the source said. “It was mentally draining and he took a hit financially… Johnny has [thrown] into his music full time and is touring with his band, the Hollywood Vampires… He’s fine. Johnny is happy, his fans continue to support his music.”

Depp’s role in the sequel to “Fantastic Beasts” has led social media attention in the midst of the abuse allegations, but the author JK Rowling has defended Depp’s involvement.
“On the basis of our understanding of the circumstances, the film-makers and I are not only comfortable to maintain our original casting, but a sincerely happy that Johnny is playing a important character in the film,” Rowling said last year.
The Comic Con crowd greeted Depp’s surprise appearance with cheers, The Wrap reported.
