John Travolta is poorly received crime movie “Debbie” earned a disappointing $1.6 million in its opening weekend.
The film opened in 503 theatres and was regarded as one of Travolta’s worst debut since 1991, the movie “Scream,” The Wrap reported. Sources told The Wrap “Debbie” would have to make approximately $3 million in order to be considered successful.

The film stars Travolta as the notorious New York gangster John Gotti. Travolta’s real-life wife, Kelly Preston, also stars in the film as Gotti’s wife Victoria.
The film was a hit with blistering reviews from The New York Times, the New York Post and Rolling Stone. The New York Times called the film “a mess”, while the New York Post panned as the “worst mob movie of all time.”

Despite the negative reviews, the movie has a 79 percent “fresh” rating on Rotten tomatoes.
The film was stuck in a decade long production for “Entourage” star Kevin Connolly took the film as a director.
