Fresh-from-the-prison-Gene Gotti, the younger brother of the late “Teflon Don” John Gotti, is reportedly in the holes by the authorities after the apparent hit on a reputed Gambino crime family boss Francesco “Franky Boy” Cali outside his New York City home Wednesday night.

Since the 73-year-old Gene Gotti’s release in September, after a 29-year sentence for the dealing of heroin, law enforcement sources are concerned about the possibility of a bloody struggle for power within the family, reports have said.

As Gotti, a capo in the family, is linked to the murder of Cali, who had close ties with the Sicilian Mafia, “it’s going to be an all-out war,” a source told the New York Post Thursday. “The Sicilians are not going to sit back and let that happen.”

Cali, 53, was shot multiple times around 9:15 p.m. Wednesday outside his red-brick colonial-style house in the Todt Hill section of Staten Island. His family was said to be at the time.

Surveillance footage outside of Cali’s house turned out to be the gangster turns out to have pulled out of his house as the gunman backed his pick-up truck in Cali’s Cadillac SUV, a police official who saw the video told the Daily Beast. Cali’s murder called the last important last mob hit in New York City more than three decades ago. Then Gambino boss Paul Castellano was fatally shot outside of Sparks Steakhouse in Midtown Manhattan in 1985, a law, which the authorities said was ordered by the Gene, the brother of John Gotti, in a power move to seize control of the family.

“It is in his bloodline,” a source told the Post of Gene Gotti, comparison Cali is the killing of Castellano. “This is very similar in some respects to what happened to Paul Castellano in front of Sparks Steakhouse.”

When John Gotti died in prison of throat cancer in 2002, his other brother, Peter rose peet. The power shifted to the family’s Sicilian faction, after Peter was behind bars, with Domenico Cefalu about to take prior to the passing of leadership to Cali in 2015.

5 BLOODY GANG-RELATED MURDERS IN AMERICA

Under mob protocol, Gene Gotti’s release from prison, he is entitled to an important role within the family, according to the Post.

But the police have said that it is too early to say whether the Cali’s death was mob-related, let alone associated with Gene Gotti.

“It’s total speculation,” a source told the New York Daily News about a possible connection to Gotti. “But it is also something to look forward to. Was Gene trying to reclaim some of his company and Cali wasn’t going?”

The Gambino Family was once one of the most powerful criminal organizations in the U.S., but the federal prosecution in the years 1980 and 1990, sent its leaders — including the Gotti brothers to the jail and reduced its reach.
