Joey “the Clown” Lombardo, the notorious Chicago mobster, dead at 90, reports say

The Chicago mobster Joseph Lombardo. – better, as “Joey the Clown” – died in prison on Saturday, at the age of 90 years old, while serving a life sentence for the murder, several media reported, citing federal prosecutors.

A cause was not clear, he was suffering from throat cancer, the Chicago Tribune reported.

Lombardo was convicted in 2009 for the murder of his friend, Daniel Seifert, a federal witness, in 1974, while his wife and 4-year-old son, were also present. The researchers said Lombardo, who was responsible for the murder of a group of masked men, but, Lombardo declined the responsibility.

“In the end, we are judged by our actions, not our minds or a smile,” said U.s. District Judge James Zagel, when he was convicted and sentenced Lombardo. In cases such as this, and we will be judged by the worst things we have done, and the worst thing that you have done a terrible thing.”

Lombardo arranged for the Seifert murder, after allegedly learning that his friend planned to testify against him in federal court, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.

Lombardo allegedly made his “Clown” name from its jokey attitude in spite of his cold-blooded nature. When he finally made it to the district court, after 2007, the time of his arrest, he reportedly said that he would be “unavailable.”

Separately, he was convicted and sentenced to prison in the 1980s for conspiring to bribe a united states senator and for his role in a scheme to skim $2 million from a casino in Las Vegas, Las Vegas, and the grand Stand will be added. He was said to have been started as a driver for the Chicago Outfit figures to rise through the ranks.

Lombardo’s death was announced in a court filing, Deputy district Attorney, the u.s. Amarjeet Bhachu, the reports said. No further details about his death were given.
