Jodie Whittaker is the first actor in the skin of the legendary character Doctor Who creeps. BBC One revealed the identity of the new Doctor Who Sunday after the mannenfinale of Wimbledon.

Whittaker takes the role of Peter Capaldi.

Capaldi waving at the end of this year as Doctor Who. The 59-year-old actor believes it is “time to move on,” he said in January. The Brit made his debut in 2013 as a lead actor in the popular sciencefictionserie.

Whittaker is the thirteenth actor in the skin of a time traveler Doctor Who creeps. She takes on the role from the eleventh season, which next year is being broadcast.

The 35-year-old English actress played in series such as Broadchurch and The Assets. She was also seen in films such as Venus, One Day, and Black Sea.
