JetBlue unveiled a brand new aircraft paint scheme to honor the New York Police Department.
The name “Blue is Best,” the Airbus 320 is decked out in the colors of the NYPD flag, complete with stars along the tail, white and green stripes in the direction of the rear of the fuselage. There is also a badge and a shield, by the forward boarding door.
The flag, which is outside flown every district in the city, next to the American flag and it offers a 24-white star representative of the 23 individual cities and villages that eventually New York City, plus one star for the city itself, according to a JetBlue press release.

“I want to thank everyone at JetBlue for the honor of the hardworking men and women of the NYPD with this incredible symbol of cooperation and professionalism,” said nypd commissioner James P. O’neill in a statement. “It is an impressive interpretation of the NYPD characteristics and will spread our commitment to the safety of the public far beyond New York City.”
“Blue is Best” will join JetBlue’s fleet of aircraft to fly by the airline network of 101 cities, including several other service-oriented aircraft such as the “Blue Bravest,” dedicated to the FIREFIGHTERS, and “Vets in Blue,” honoring past and present veterans.
“If New York is the home of the Airline, with the support of our local officials, including the NYPD is part of our DNA,” said Joanna Geraghty, JetBlue’s EVP for customer experience, reports USA Today. “Our mission is inspiring the mankind is brought to life each day by our employees, many of whom are also former officials. This mission also lives in the work of the NYPD is to keep our communities safe.”

The unveiling of the “Blue Best” took place at a special event at JFK airport Monday in front of the crew, many of whom had worked with the NYPD, according to USA Today.
